uTest Acquires Mobile Development Tool Apphance
15 AugToday, software testing firm, uTest (and my beloved employer) announces their first acquisition of a technology created by Polish company, Polidea. The technology, named Apphance, is a a mobile software development tool that offers detailed diagnostics on app crashes, bugs and user feedback, across all major mobile platforms.
So why did we buy this tool?
CEO, Doron Reuveni says
Apphance is additive to what we’re already doing. It merely standardizes and improves the deliverables of our in-the-wild testing services by automatically appending detailed, diagnostic information to each bug report (such as device info, battery, resolution, connection status, and location). It also leverages our massive community of 60,000+ testers from 190 countries around the world for automated crash reporting on real devices, across OSes, carriers and locations.
Thus, while we’re offering uTest and Apphance as standalone offerings, we fully expect the vast majority of mobile customers to adopt both uTest and Apphance (and get some great discounts by bundling uTest’s services and Apphance’s tools).
So what does Apphance cost, Apphance will be very affordable for any mobile developer to purchase, there is even a free version. However, the even better new is that Apphance is FREE for the rest of 2012! That’s right FREE!! So check it out, give it a spin, see how you like it. Its pretty awesome if you ask me!

Stupidity or Karma? Olympians banned from London 2012 because of racist tweets.
31 Jul
All this talk lately about Olympians getting kicked out for tweets got me thinking. I hear that people say it’s a shame they got kicked out because they trained their whole lives for this or social media is to blame. But to be quite honest I’m glad these people tweeted what they tweeted.
No, hear me out, I don’t agree with what they tweeted, but if they hadn’t done it we would never have known that they don’t embody the Olympic spirit. The Greek Olympics committee had it right when they decided to ban Voula Papachristou and they said “We are not here just to get medals, but to promote the Olympic ideals, to show our character.”
I think it’s important that Olympians do embody the spirit of the united world, whether they tweet it or not. The fact that they said what they said and had to meet those consequences is just karma. What are your thoughts, do you think they got what they deserved? Do you think social media is to blame? Or do you think it’s something entirely different?
